A volcanic eruption is like a giant bottle of soda that’s been shaken up and then opened. Inside the Earth, there’s hot liquid called magma, which builds up pressure until it bursts out through cracks in the ground, just like bubbles exploding from a fizzy drink! When it erupts, lava flows out, and sometimes big rocks and ash go flying, making everything around it feel like it's been hit by a giant fireball.
Examples
- When the magma comes out, it can flow like lava down the mountain, or it can shoot rocks into the sky.
- Sometimes a big eruption sends ash clouds all over the world, blocking sunlight for months.
