How Does A Star is Born | How the Universe Works Work?

A star is born when a big cloud of space stuff collapses and gets super hot, like a giant fireball.

What’s in that cloud?

Imagine you're playing with a huge pile of cotton candy, it's fluffy, light, and mostly made of sugar. That’s kind of what the cloud looks like, but instead of sugar, it's made of gas and dust, which are things we can find here on Earth too.

This cloud is called a stellar nursery, because that’s where new stars are born, like a baby’s room!

The Cloud Falls Apart

Now imagine you give that pile of cotton candy a big push. It starts to fall apart, and the pieces get squished together. As they get squeezed, they heat up, just like when you press your hands together in a tight hug and feel them warm up.

Eventually, it gets so hot and tight that a star is born, kind of like how a fire starts from a matchstick being struck!
