Smartwatches use something like a tiny map inside them to find out where you are. It’s kind of like when you have a GPS in your car, it tells you where you’re going. But instead of being in your car, this map is inside the watch on your wrist! Smartwatches also talk with satellites up in space, and that helps them know exactly where you are.
Examples
- Smartwatches can show you where you are even when you’re walking through a busy park.
- GPS satellites talk to your smartwatch like it's having a phone call from space.
- Wi-Fi helps the smartwatch figure out where it is, especially inside buildings.
