A single grain of sand can cause an entire desert to shift because it starts a big movement that grows over time.
Imagine you're playing with your toys on the floor. If one toy rolls just a little, it might push another toy slightly. Then that toy pushes another one, and soon all the toys are rolling around like in a big, fun race!
How a Little Push Becomes a Big Shift
Sand grains are tiny, but they're also very light. When wind blows, it can pick up one grain of sand and carry it just a little ways. That grain hits another grain, giving it a nudge. Then that second grain nudges the third one, like a game of tag!
Over time, more and more grains get moving, and together they make a big change in the shape of the desert. It’s like how a small ripple in a pond can grow into a big wave when more water joins in.
So even though just one grain starts it all, with enough help from other sand grains, and the wind, the whole desert can shift slowly but surely!
