How Does A Seed Become A Plant? | Backyard Science | SciShow Kids?

A seed is like a tiny sleeping person who wakes up and grows into a big plant when it gets the right help.

Seeds are like sleepy people inside a cozy blanket. When they get water, sunlight, and warmth, just like you need food, sleep, and playtime to grow, they start to wake up. They stretch out their arms and legs (which become leaves and stems) and reach for the sky (the sun).

How Seeds Wake Up

When a seed gets water, it’s like getting a glass of juice, it starts to feel lively. The water makes the seed swell, and soon little roots pop out of the bottom. These roots are like legs that help the plant stand up and drink from the soil.

Then, when the seed gets sunlight, it’s like playing outside on a sunny day, it feels happy and starts to grow leaves. The leaves are like hands that catch sunlight so the plant can make its own food.

Over time, the little seed becomes a full-grown plant with tall stems and big leaves, just like a sleepy person who finally wakes up and stretches out in the morning!
