Neurons are like tiny messengers in your brain. They send messages by using electricity and chemicals! When a neuron is excited, it sends an electrical signal down its length, which causes the release of special chemical messengers called neurotransmitters at the end. These then cross over to the next neuron and start the process all over again, like a relay race!
Examples
- A neuron sending a message is like a light switch, it turns on and sends electricity to the next one.
- Your brain uses these signals to help you remember things, solve problems, and even laugh at jokes.
