Mirrors don't really 'know' what to reflect, they just follow the rules of light. When you look into a mirror, your eyes send out tiny light signals that bounce off you and hit the mirror. The mirror sends them back to your eyes, so you see yourself. It's like sending a message and getting it back, no thinking needed!
Examples
- A mirror reflects your face because the light from your face bounces back to your eyes.
- You can see through a window when it's open but not closed, like a mirror on the other side.
- When you shine a flashlight into a mirror, you see the light come right back at you.
