Glaciers move like giant slow rivers of ice. When they get heavy, the ice starts to slide over the ground underneath them, just like how a heavy blanket slides on a bed if you push it. The more ice there is, the faster they can glide across the land!
Examples
- A heavy snowplow slowly moves across a road after being pushed forward.
- A thick blanket slides on a soft mattress when you push it from one end.
- A slow-moving river starts to flow faster where it becomes deeper.
