Imagine a computer is like a very fast chef in a kitchen. It takes ingredients (numbers and letters) and follows recipes (instructions) to make new dishes (results). The kitchen has counters (memory), and the chef uses tools (processors) to mix everything up quickly. All of this happens using just two kinds of switches, on or off, like lights you can turn on and off. These switches are called bits, and they help the computer do all its work.
Examples
- Typing your name into a text box is like telling a chef what dish to make.
- A calculator uses bits and switches to add numbers together.
