A Brief History of Film is like watching a movie that shows how people learned to make movies, from scratch!
Film is like a big book made of tiny pictures called frames. When you flip through the pages fast, it looks like motion, just like when you flip through a comic book and see a character running.
How It Started
A long time ago, people used cameras to take pictures of real life. These cameras were like photographs, but they could take many pictures in one go, like taking photos of a dance party that lasts 10 minutes!
Then, they put all those tiny pictures together and played them back on something called a screen, just like when you watch cartoons on your tablet.
How It Grew
Over time, people added sound, so characters could talk. Then came color, making the world look more vivid, like how your favorite toy looks when it’s painted bright red instead of plain white.
Now, we have movies that show stories from all over the world, just like how you can watch a movie about space or a pirate adventure, even if you’ve never seen a spaceship or sailed on a ship!
