A bee knows how to make honey because it’s born with a special superpower that helps it collect and store food for its family.
When a worker bee goes out to find food, it visits flowers and drinks their sweet nectar. It stores this nectar in a little bag called a honey stomach, which is different from its regular stomach. This special bag keeps the nectar safe while the bee flies back to the hive.
Once inside the hive, the bee passes the nectar to other bees. These bees do something magical, they add enzymes (like little helpers) to the nectar, turning it into a syrupy liquid called honey. Then, the bees fan the honey with their wings to make it even thicker and sweeter.
The hive is like a big kitchen, and all the bees work together, just like in a team, some collect food, others prepare it, and everyone helps store the honey so the whole family can eat during winter. That’s how bees know how to make honey, through teamwork and a little bit of magic!
Examples
- Bees use their tongues to suck up nectar like a straw and store it in special pockets inside their bodies.
