How Does 7 Reasons We Hurt the Ones We Love Work?

We hurt the ones we love because we're all learning how to be better at being together, just like kids learning to share toys.

Reason 1: We forget to listen, It's like when you're playing with your favorite toy and someone comes over and starts talking about their new toy. You don’t hear them because you’re too busy thinking about yours.

Reason 2: We get angry easily, Sometimes, when things go wrong, we shout or push, just like when you spill juice on the floor and you kick it in frustration.

Reason 3: We want things our way, You know how sometimes you and your friend both want to be first in line for ice cream? That’s what happens with grown-ups too.

Why It Hurts So Much

When we hurt someone, they feel sad or confused, just like when a friend forgets your birthday. But even though it hurts, it also helps us grow, like how you learn not to spill juice by practicing.

Reason 4: We don’t say we’re sorry, Sometimes, after being angry, we don’t take the time to say "I'm sorry," just like when you forget to apologize after taking your friend’s toy.

Reason 5: We feel lonely even when we're together, It's like sitting at a big table with everyone else laughing and talking, but you feel left out because no one notices you.
