We find food in the ground! Like when you dig for treasure, archaeologists dig up things that tell us about what people ate long ago. Sometimes there are bones from animals they cooked and ate, or little pieces of plants, like seeds, that still survive today. It's like a time machine, it helps us taste their meals!
Examples
- Archaeologists found tiny seeds inside an ancient bowl, like finding popcorn stuck to a plate.
- A bone from a big animal was discovered near a fire pit, that probably means people cooked it there!
- They found bits of charred bread in the ground, just like someone dropped crumbs on the floor!
