We use clues like old writings and drawings. Imagine someone from ancient times left you a letter or drew a picture, that’s how we know what they thought! Sometimes, even the way they built their houses tells us about their lives.
Examples
- A child finds a letter from an emperor that says he was sad after losing a war.
- Someone draws a picture of a big tree on a cave wall, maybe they thought it was magical.
- A statue shows people dancing, so we know they liked to party!
