How Do Stars Really Die?

Stars don’t just fade away, they explode! Imagine a giant balloon that keeps getting bigger and bigger until it can’t hold any more air. Then boom! It explodes, and all the stuff inside is scattered everywhere. That’s kind of what happens to some stars when they die. Big ones go supernova, which means they explode in a really bright flash, sending out pieces of themselves into space.
