Hats keep us warm by trapping the heat our bodies make. When you wear a hat, it stops your head from losing its warmth to the cold air around you. Imagine your head is like a pot of hot soup, if you don’t put a lid on it, all the steam (or warmth) escapes. A hat acts like that lid, keeping the heat in and the cold out.
Examples
- A hat keeps your head warm just like a blanket keeps you warm at night.
- When you wear a beanie outside, it's like putting a lid on a hot cup of cocoa, the heat stays inside.
