How Do Computers Understand Pictures?

Computers see pictures like we see puzzles. When you take a picture, the computer breaks it into tiny colored dots called pixels. Then, like solving a puzzle, it guesses what each part of the image might be, like telling the difference between a cat and a dog by looking at shapes and colors.
