How did Vasco da Gama Reach India?

Vasco da Gama was like a super sailor who found a new road to India by going around Africa.

Imagine you're playing with building blocks, and instead of stacking them straight up, you go all the way around the side to reach the top. That’s what Vasco da Gama did! He wanted to get to India, but the usual path was blocked. So he sailed around Africa, like taking a big detour on a toy car.

The Big Detour

Back then, people mostly traveled by land or through the Mediterranean Sea. But Vasco decided to try something new, he went all the way around the southern tip of Africa, which is called the Cape of Good Hope. It was like taking a long walk from one end of the playground to the other just to get to the slide.

A New Road to India

When he finally reached India, it was like finding a new path to your favorite candy store! He brought lots of goods back with him, and that started a big trade between Europe and Asia. People were excited because now they could go from one place to another without having to take the long way around, or at least, not as long!
