Long ago, humans lived in groups. Sometimes, one person would make smart choices that helped the whole group survive. People began to follow them, and that’s how leaders started!
Why Would Someone Follow a Leader?
Imagine you're in a forest with your friends. If someone spots food or helps everyone escape from danger, they might become the leader of the group. Other people will trust and follow them because they made good choices.
Over time, this idea grew, leaders became more important, even in big groups and cities.
Examples
- A group of kids in a forest follow their friend because she finds berries.
- A family follows their parent who knows how to build a shelter during winter.
- A tribe’s strongest warrior becomes the leader when he protects everyone from an attack.
