The Great Wall of China was built by many people working together over a very long time.
Imagine you and your friends are building a super-long fence around your playground. That’s kind of what the people of ancient China did, but on a much bigger scale, they were building a wall that went all the way across mountains and deserts!
How it started
People worked hard for years
Workers used big stones, bricks, and even rammed earth, which is like pressing dirt very tightly with your hands or feet. They built it piece by piece, just like you build a tower with blocks. Sometimes they had to climb up mountains or dig through hills to make the wall go straight.
It took hundreds of years and many people to finish it, but that’s how the Great Wall got built, one step at a time!
