Map shapes were based on what people knew and believed. A long time ago, mapmakers didn't have satellites or GPS, they just used stars, the sea, and stories to draw maps. That’s why some old maps look strange! One famous map even had Europe at the center, with Asia stretched out like a big tail. It was called The Hereford Map!
