How Did the First Coins Appear in History?

Imagine you're a kid selling apples, instead of carrying all your apples to trade, you could use small shiny pieces of metal called coins. That’s what happened way back when the first coins appeared in history!

People used metal discs, often made from silver or copper, as money because they were easy to carry and didn’t rot like food.

Before coins, people traded goods directly, that’s called bartering. But with coins, you could trade for anything, no matter where you went!
