Long ago, people used things like shells or grains to trade with each other. But that was messy! One day, someone had a great idea, they made little pieces of metal and called them coins. Now you could just carry a few coins in your pocket instead of carrying all your goods!
Examples
- You trade your toy car for a chocolate bar, but with coins, you just give your friend one shiny piece of metal.
- Your mom uses two coins to buy bread at the market instead of carrying all her eggs.
- You get a coin as change from the vending machine.
