Ancient civilizations gave us the ideas that help people trade and share things today, just like when you swap toys at playtime.
Imagine you're playing with your friends in a big sandbox, everyone has different toys, like shovels, buckets, and little cars. Some kids have more toys than others, so they decide to trade them. That’s kind of like how ancient civilizations worked! They had markets, where people could swap goods, just like you swapping toys.

The ancient Egyptians used something called barter, that means trading one thing for another without using money. If you have a red shovel and your friend has a blue bucket, you might trade them so both of you get what you want. That’s how ancient people started sharing and working together.
Later on, they made coins, like tiny metal disks, to make trading easier, just like having play money at the toy store!
So today, when you buy candy with coins or trade toys, you’re using ideas that came from ancient civilizations, pretty cool, right?
