What's "Heart Healthy" Mean?
When Cheerios said they’re heart healthy, they meant that eating them could help keep hearts strong and happy, just like how eating a banana helps you grow tall. But sometimes, companies use words like heart healthy to make food sound better than it is. It’s like when your friend says their cake is “the best ever,” but it's actually made of candy and frosting.
Why Did No One Catch Them?
For 84 years, Cheerios kept saying they're heart healthy, even though they weren’t always as good for the heart as they claimed. People just believed them, kind of like how you believe your favorite cereal is the best one ever, even if it's not.
Eventually, someone checked the facts, and it turned out that Cheerios didn't do everything they said. But by then, a lot of people had already fallen in love with them!
