Ice can be hotter than water when it’s melting and water is freezing.
Imagine you have two cups, one with ice cubes and one with warm water. Now picture the ice melting, and the water getting colder. It might feel like the ice is doing something to the water. But what if we switch things around?
When Ice Is Hotter Than Water
Let’s say there's ice that's melting and water that's freezing. The ice is like a tired kid who wants to go to sleep, but it needs a little extra push, some heat.
Meanwhile, the water is like a kid who just came back from playing outside and is ready to cool down. It gives off cold, which makes the ice melt faster.
So even though both are changing temperature, the ice that's melting is actually hotter than the water that's freezing, it’s just not feeling it as much!
Think of it like this: when you're wearing a heavy coat on a cold day, you feel chilly. But if you take off the coat and stand in the sun, you’re warmer even though the sun isn’t super hot. It all depends on what's happening around you!
