Galaxies are big groups of stars and space stuff that came together over a very long time.
Imagine you're playing with a bunch of marbles in a sandbox. At first, they’re all scattered around, moving in different directions. But if you shake the sandbox just right, the marbles start to group together, some form little clusters, others make bigger groups. That's kind of like what happened when galaxies were formed.
The Big Space Shake
A long time ago, space was full of tiny dots called cosmic dust and gas, moving around fast. Then something happened, maybe a big bang (like when you pop a balloon), which started everything moving. This movement caused the dots to pull together because of gravity, just like marbles being drawn toward each other in the sandbox.
Making the Clusters
As more dots came together, they formed bigger and bigger clusters. Some became spiral galaxies, like spinning plates, others became elliptical galaxies, more rounded and calm. These big groups are what we now call galaxies.
So galaxies aren't magic, they're just space stuff that got organized over time, like marbles finding their special spots in the sandbox.
