Do You Suffer from Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD)?

Do you feel like your body has a mood swing that happens right before your period, and it's super strong?

Imagine you have a favorite toy that you love to play with every day, but sometimes, just before your period starts, that toy feels completely different. It might not work as well, or maybe it makes you feel grumpy or sad. That’s kind of what happens with Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD).

What is PMDD like?

Think about having a big, strong storm inside your body that happens every month, right before your period. This storm can make you feel really tired, angry, or even down. It's like being stuck in a cloudy day when you were expecting sunshine.

Sometimes, it’s so strong that it feels like everything around you is harder to handle, and it might even mess up your schoolwork or playtime with friends.

Why does this happen?

Your body has special messengers (called hormones) that change every month. When these messengers get a little out of balance right before your period, they can cause those big mood changes, just like how the weather changes from sunny to rainy.
