The Nazis used gas chambers to kill many Jews, just like how a big vacuum cleaner can suck up all the leaves in a yard at once.
Imagine you're playing hide and seek, but instead of hiding, you’re trapped in a room with your friends. Suddenly, someone turns on a special machine that fills the whole room with gas, it’s invisible, but it's very strong. After a few minutes, everyone falls asleep and never wakes up. That’s what happened to many Jews in places called concentration camps.
How It Worked
Gas chambers were like big rooms where people would be locked inside. A special gas, called Zyklon B, was dropped through a hole in the ceiling. This gas made it hard for people to breathe, and after some time, they died.
It’s like if you put all your toys into a plastic bag and then sealed it, no air gets in, so eventually, the toys would be squished and not working anymore. The Jews were like the toys, locked inside with no way out.
The Nazis did this to many people because they wanted to hurt them and make sure they didn’t live to tell their story.
