Avoidant Personality Disorder is when someone feels really shy and scared to try new things because they're worried about being judged or making mistakes.
Imagine you’re playing hide-and-seek with your friends at the park, but instead of jumping out from behind a tree like everyone else, you stay hidden under a bush for hours, just in case no one finds you. That's kind of what it feels like to have Avoidant Personality Disorder. You want to be seen and liked, but you’re really afraid that if people see you, they’ll think you're silly or not good enough.
Like Being in a Big Room All Alone
It’s like being in a big classroom with all your friends laughing and talking, but you feel like you're the only one there. You know everyone is having fun, but you’re too scared to join because you think they’ll notice you're different or maybe even laugh at you.
This fear can make it hard to talk to people, go to new places, or try something exciting, like joining a club or playing a game with friends. But the good news is, with time and support, those fears can get smaller!
